Holey, Holey, Holey

These really need to be thrown away, like seriously! But instead of tossing them in the trash, I’ll be tossing them right back in the basket!  I literally just got these out of the dryer which means someone in this house had them on their feet, knowing they had all these holes in them! Then that same person took the time to put them in the dirty clothes basket, then the washer, and then the dryer where I found them.

Not even five months ago, I went in their rooms, dumped all their socks in the trash, and bought four 10-packs of socks. That’s 40 new pair of socks just five months ago! This is one of those 40!!! How do I know for certain?

Me: Boys, is this one of the old socks that didn’t get thrown away or one of the new ones?
Oldest son: “Naw that’s one of the new ones, ‘cause they all have gray toes and heels!”
Me: Who had this sock on?
Youngest son: ME! (He proudly shouts like he’s about to win a trophy!)
Me: Why does this sock look like this? And why didn’t you throw it away? I mean I just bought these socks when school started!
Youngest son: It’s not that big of a deal Mom, it’s not like anyone’s gonna see my socks anyway! (Nothing is ever a deal with my boys! Of course I’m overreacting!)
Oldest son: Dang dude! Mine doesn’t have that many holes! (keywords: that many holes)
Me: How do socks look like this after only 5 months? I mean I just don’t understand! I’ve had these same socks I’m wearing for like 5 years!
All my sons: *crickets * shrugs shoulders*

This is a never-ending battle.

Prior to five months ago, all they owned were Nike socks…but after their Nike socks started to look like this, I was like I’m not wasting any more money on expensive socks. Well I guess they don’t know how to take care of cheap Hanes socks either! So I’m done. I will no longer make a fuss about how holey and dingy and grimy their socks look, nope, I won’t say a word.

I’m not even gonna stress about it? I mean if they don’t care about it, then no sense in me wasting money for my own satisfaction. They can wear these socks forever if they want too! So I’ll just take the $10 I was going to spend on a new pack and treat myself to something instead!

Hmm….now that’s a first! I wonder how much more I could be saving by not fussing over things they think, “aren’t a big deal!?” Hahaha!
